Justice Puryear graduated from the Texas Tech School of Law in 1983.
He served as an Assistant Travis County Attorney from 1983-1990.
Puryear was elected as a Travis County court at law judge in 1990 and reelected in 1994.
He also served as an Assistant Attorney General from 1999-2000 before he was elected to this Court in November of 2000.
